I voted early on Friday, stopping by the downtown Wake County building around 2 PM. On the sidewalk I encountered both Democratic candidates for the District 16 N.C. Senate seat being vacated by Janet Cowell: Jack Nichols and Josh Stein. I can’t tell you how wonderful they both are, because they are both excellent candidates. I voted for one and I suggested that Kelly vote for the other.
Mayor Meeker stopped to chat with Josh Stein for a bit before he went in to vote. I went in a little while afterward to vote and saw Janet Cowell as she was just leaving. Remember how I mentioned you might see me and my family on statewide TV? Well, we were invited to appear in Janet’s campaign commercial and that’s what we did for three hours the other weekend. Janet says that commercial should begin running today, so keep your eye out for familiar faces!
I was voter number 2,443 for Wake’s early voting. I encourage everyone to vote as well. As the election board says: now there’s no excuse!
I think I was voter 2244 at the Durham BOE last week, and there were well over 4000 total early voters in Durham then.
