The predictions of a significant snowfall over the Christmas holiday weekend came true this morning as the storm dumped 8 and a half inches of snow on East Raleigh. When we woke at 7:30 there was about five inches already on the ground. Two hours later we were up to 8 inches. Our final count was 8 and a half of solid snow. Areas just east of us got close to a foot of snow!
The kids rushed through their breakfasts before heading to the backyard for some fun. After they’d tracked around in it, we gathered the sleds and headed over to Lions Park for some sledding on our choice hill, right next to the tennis courts. There we spent the next two hours sledding down the hill and having a great time.
After lunch we spent some time indoors, with the kids watching movies, Kelly taking a nap, and me cleaning up around the house. Occasionally the dog would ask to go out. Instantly, he would switch to Puppy Mode: it’s obvious he loves the snow!
The roads near our home have been plowed and are passable, though there aren’t many places we need to go: the kids are out of school and I work from home. Even though temperatures later this week will reach the mid-60s, there is enough snow here for us to enjoy it a little bit longer.
