ANN SMITH TURNER
Ann Smith Turner, 93, of Panama City, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004. She was born Feb. 22, 1911, in Port Gibson, Miss., and had been a resident of Panama City since 1934. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City for 69 years, where she was a part of the WMU, the 39 ers and the Ruth Sunday School Class and also taught in the preschool department. She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Turner Sr.; two sons, Sammy E. Turner and James H. (Jimmy) Turner Jr.; brother, William R. Smith; sister, Jean Hudson; and a granddaughter, Amy Leigh Turner. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Turner of Tallahassee, Fla.; four sons and daughters-in-law, R.W. (Bill) Turner and wife Connie of Birmingham, Ala., Donald F. Turner and wife Linda of Winter Park, Fla., John D. Turner and wife Sandra of Raleigh, N.C., and C. Edward Turner and wife Debbie of Panama City; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Turner of Birmingham; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Those desiring may make a contribution to the One Heart Fund of the First Baptist Church of Panama City in memory of Ann Turner.
