Democracy in U.S. not a U.S. priority

Forget about Pakistan, we don’t even have democracy here. A peaceful citizen was refused entry to Tuesday’s Petreaus testimony, gang-tackled, and had his leg broken, all without apparent provocation. Watch how Rev. Lennox Yearwood is refused entry for unexplained reasons, then hauled to the floor, tackled, and arrested. See if you can spot the alleged “assault of a police officer” because I sure can’t.

I’ve asked Speaker Pelosi’s office for an explanation but I’m not holding my breath.

That’s democracy for you, folks. Outrageous.

  1. This is something that most Americans fail to realize: we do not and should not live in a democracy. We live in a Republic, or at least we did, and until the Constitution is replaced that is the system in which we should live under.

Democracy in the middle east will only result in the terrorist types coming out of the shadows and moving into legitimate seats of power. We saw that play out clearly with the Palestinians.

  2. I’m still looking for good/better ways to have an impact. I’m getting tired of calling/writing my representatives and getting form letters back. Recently I’ve been getting involved with http://impeachbushcheney.net/. You can register there and have your own section of the site if you wish. If the editors like what you post, it’ll get promoted to the front page.

I welcome your input. Perhaps you’d like to discuss the 2008 candidates over a drink at some point?

    Cheers,
    CMP

  3. Chris,

You get form letters back? You lucky b*****d. I write to them all the time and I’m very lucky indeed to even get that much.

And of course since they haven’t been caught having anonymous gay sex in an airport restroom yet, they will be re-elected.

Too much emphasis is placed on voting and not on general awareness of what our elected congresscritters are actually *doing* once we vote them in. Voting is just the tip of the iceberg. We actually have to watch them, let them know we are watching them, praise them when they do well, and give them a swat when they screw up.
