Every day is a weekend day when you’re between jobs.
Woke up delightfully late after a good night’s sleep. After breakfast I took Rocket out for a run. With no bicycle, I might add. It was a shock to me as I haven’t been running for years, but it did feel good. When I stopped. Rocket was a hard-charger for the first half of the run but opted to slow to my pace after a while.
I got back from the run in time to shower before heading out to a birthday party for my friend Matt Pressley’s son, Conner. I enjoyed catching up with Matt and talking more to the parents’ of the kids there. In fact, some interesting things could come from this talk. So that was good.
Once returning from the party, we settled in for a bit and then the doorbell rang. In walked our up-to-that-point virtual friend Ron Kinner, who was visiting his daughter in town and thought to stop by and say hello. We spent an hour talking about each other and the San Juan Islands: the place we both love to visit. It was great finally putting a face to a name.
Ron hadn’t been gone for long before it was time to whisk Rocket to his dog training class. I took him alone for a change. Class was productive but Rocket is so eager to please that he sometimes won’t leave our instructor alone. Definitely Teacher’s Pet.
I got back from that in time for dinner, followed by gingerbread for dessert which was made by Kelly and the kids while I was gone. Bathtime went smoothly and now its just Kelly and me. I’ll probably pick up my book as soon as I’m done with this post and settle down.
It was a day with good variety.
