in Checking In, Parks and Rec

Event-filled day

I’d say a lot happened today. After I dropped the kids off at school I hopped on my bike and rode 20 miles along Raleigh’s greenways, following Crabtree Creek as far upstream as the path allowed (nearly to Duraleigh Road). After a quick shower and lunch, I hopped in the car to talk with some folks in Durham about a potential job.

Back from Durham, I got an email from the client I’m chasing, asking for details for the contract. That seemed to go well.

Then I picked up the kids from school and got them a snack. As they were eating, I got a polite email from a potential employer, turning my down for the position I interviewed for. While that wasn’t ideal, I can’t blame them for their decision as it sounds like the other candidate truly is a better fit. I sent a reply thanking them for letting me know and wishing them well. The news seemed much easier to take knowing my contract position is shaping up nicely.

Then I took the kids to the library to stock up on books, after which we had dinner once Kelly was home. And then I played solo dad, putting the kids to bed while Kelly went out to her book club.

Now I’m sore from my ride and ready for a book and bed. That’s a lot for one day, eh?
