I love Costco. It’s a company that just does things right. I love seeing the same familiar faces at the registers of my local Costco. Their cashiers are pros at their jobs and honestly want to help you. When they ask “did you find everything you needed,” their “baggers” (such as they are) drop what they’re doing to find whatever you missed for you.
I was distressed two weeks ago to find one of my favorite drinks (Northland Cranberry Pomegranate juice) was no longer being sold by Costco. True to form, when I noted its absence the front-end staff jumped up and checked their computerized inventory. Sadly, they confirmed it was no longer available. They encouraged me to fill out a comment form (which I did) but I thought I’d take my request a little more public than that. I wanted to see what would happen if I took it up with them on Facebook.
When I returned from the store, I posted this comment on Costco’s Facebook page:

Costco, please bring back the Northland Cranberry Pomegranate juice. It’s so much better than the rest!

Within an hour (on a Saturday!), one of Costco’s support staff had responded:
Costco Mark- We strive to carry the best products and always value our members input. We would be happy to send this request to our buying department. –Katy

Now, I haven’t made my regular trip back to Costco yet, and when I do I don’t expect to see a pallet full of my beloved juice there right away (if ever). Regardless of the fate of my juice, I do appreciate is that Costco took the time to cheerfully and honestly acknowledge my request. I fully trust that Katy did what she said and forwarded my request to Costco’s buyers. That’s great customer service!
Not willing to let any rock go unturned, I also wrote to Northland directly with my plea to get their juice carried again by Costco. To my delight, yesterday I received a lengthy reply, complete with the names and addresses of stores near me that still do carry their Cranberry Pomegranate juice:
Dear Mr. Turner:
Thank you for your recent e-mail regarding our Northland Cranberry Pomegranate 100% Juice. We welcome comments and questions from our customers and appreciate the opportunity to respond to them.
Northland has been providing delicious juices for many years and we pride ourselves on providing the high quality product our customers have grown to expect from us. It is most rewarding when someone takes the time to contact us to tell us how interested they are in the variety of juices we offer.
Unfortunately we do not have control of the products that the stores stock their shelves with. When our sales rep meets with the store buyers, they show them all of our Northland Juice products, packaging and sizing. From there it is the store buyers decision on what they decide to purchase to stock their shelves with.
Our records do indicate that BJ’s Wholesale Club sells our Cranberry Pomegranate in the 96 oz. bottles. Below is a list of store locations in your zip code area:

So, while I’m disappointed I may have to trek to another store to buy the juice I want, I couldn’t be happier with the the way both of these companies handled my request. It’s fantastic customer service!
