What is flying over Denver?

A man approached KDVR in Denver recently with a claim that a strange aircraft was flying regularly over an area north of the city. The aircraft moves impossibly fast and appears to take off and land near a neighborhood:

DENVER – It’s a mile high mystery in the skies over Denver.

Strange objects caught on camera flying over the city and nobody can explain it.

We first learned about these sightings when a metro area man, who does not want to be identified brought us his home video. He captured the images on his digital camera from a hilltop in Federal Heights looking south toward downtown Denver.

He said, “The flying objects appear around noon or 1:00 p.m. at least a couple of times a week.” The strangest part is they are flying too fast to see with the naked eye, but when we slowed down the video, several UFOs appear.

I watched the video several times this week and get more and more curious with each viewing.

The Discovery website scoffed at the story as many reporters have been trained to do. It’s easy to scoff until you’ve seen a UFO with your own eyes. As such, I couldn’t help but weigh in on some interesting things I’ve noted about the video. Here’s what I posted in the Discovery story’s reader comments:

Let’s take stock of the situation.

The only one who’s hinted at space aliens is Mr. Radford. No one said this was the result of space aliens. Let’s not go off the deep end, folks. I think it’s safe to assume it’s something of terrestrial origin. Fantastic, perhaps, or even mundane, but of terrestrial origin.

Something that happens repeatedly on a schedule sounds like something humanly controlled (though I have not heard anyone say whether this occurs at other hours of the day).

The reporter, the witness, and the aviation expert all insist it isn’t caused by bugs.

While bugs may have been present in September in the witnesses video, many have pointed out that the TV station would’ve been unlikely to have filmed bugs during their November visit.

The object is moving quite fast, so fast that I cannot even see it in the raw footage the TV station filmed when its played at normal speed.

It is not unreasonable that something moving that fast escaped the notice of anyone not knowing to look for it.

It is also possible it moves too fast to be reliably tracked on radar. It could be flying too low, have a small cross-section, be flying in between radar sweeps, moving so fast that the radar rejects the return as erroneous, or all of the above.

American stealth technology has gotten really, really good at hiding things from radar, especially run-of-the-mill air search radar.

If it’s a bug, it moves in amazingly straight lines.

One witness clip shows it apparently tumbling, glinting light at one point, all the while moving in a perfectly straight line. Would a flying bug be capable of moving in a straight, sloping line while tumbling? Would any known aircraft?

Another witness clip shows it apparently going behind the trees. Either that clip has been doctored or the object is as the witness, reporter, and the aviation expert says it is.

I’d love to see an enterprising scientist (or citizen scientist) set up dual cameras on this hill, preferably high-speed ones. Then we can calculate some distance and size to this thing.

What is it? I have no idea. But I’ve seen enough to make me MORE curious, not less. Does anyone know if the witness has uploaded his video anywhere? I’d love to see more.

Is one witness’s video proof? Not necessarily. Is a reporter and videographer’s story proof? Perhaps it’s not scientific proof but it makes it a stronger case.

What I would like to see is a serious investigation with multiple cameras. If there truly is something here, why not try to figure out what it is?
