Well, last Thursday I caught some kind of cold thing and the massive cold front passing through that day squeezed my sinuses something fierce. My body went berzerk over the weekend and I wound up missing a day and a half of work. I swear the stuff I’m dealing with must be Gulf War Illness (GWI) and I intend to get things checked out as soon as I can.
Anyhow, in spite of my being knocked for a loop earlier this week, I managed to help get Little Raleigh Radio over the first FCC hurdle in its quest to get an LPFM license. The filing window was supposed to be Thursday but got extended until Friday. Ours got filed Thursday evening and it looks good.
With that out of the way, I organized a neighborhood get-together at Lions Park for the neighborhoods in my community. About 30 people showed up, which isn’t too bad for a party that didn’t have a lot of advance notice. We spent three hours sharing food and getting to know each other. It was a lot of fun! I will have to do a better job of organizing for future parties but it will only get easier, right?
Oh, and Thursday night the family played our first gig with the Highlanders at the Durham English Country Dance. We played four of our folk songs with our little ensemble and then put our instruments down and danced. It was a great time and hopefully we can do more.
Saturday morning I pulled about half of my clothes from my closet and prepped them for donation. That was one thing I’d been meaning to do for a long time and it sure felt good to get it done.
Today, made a morning Costco run. I spent setting up my new laptop and getting some things done around the house. In the afternoon, I threw the bike in the car and headed to Anderson Point Park for some greenway biking. I had gone only a few miles before I decided I didn’t trust my slow-leak back tire to get me safely home. Cutting my ride short, I fetched Kelly’s bike from home and took both to Oak City Cycling Project for new tubes.
All that, and I managed to get in some games with the kids on Saturday night while Kelly went out with friends. It’s a busy life, but certainly an enjoyable one!
