Friday evening we gathered the kids and went to Durant Nature Park for a folk concert. David DiGueseppe and Mara Shea played at the park’s training lodge. We had trouble finding it, first driving to the wrong building and then being puzzled at finding an empty parking lot in front of the other.
Through a lack of promotion or some other reason, word didn’t get out about the concert. Other than the two guests of the band members and the parks employee, Kelly and the kids and I were the entire audience! We were treated to a private concert of beautiful Scottish and Irish music on fiddle, accordion, and Irish cittern.
At times I simply closed my eyes and let the music flow around me. Travis and Hallie were enchanted, with Hallie positively beaming at times. We all had a front-row seat for a special show.
Kelly and I enjoyed it so much we’ve been trying to think up excuses to hire Mara and David to play. If you find an excuse to see them play you certainly should!
