In The Mood

Robert Plant - Principles Of Moments

When this album came out I was still in junior high school and just starting to appreciate Led Zeppelin and Robert Plant. This song always takes me back to that time. The lyrics are simple but even so Plant knows how to craft a song. I love the bridge in this one.

Check out the breakdancers in the video (and Plant dancing with them). That’s pretty much the last thing I would’ve associated with this song.
In The Mood
Robert Plant

I’m in the mood for a melody
I’m in the mood for a melody
I’m in the mood
I’m in the mood for a melody
I’m in the mood for a melody
I’m in the mood
I’m in the mood for a melody
I’m in the mood for a melody
I’m in the mood

Time

Time
Pink Floyd

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Bushfire

I was there when The B-52s counted down the last seconds of the 80s at San Diego Sports Arena. It was a good time in my life.

Bushfire
The B-52s [warning: music]

On the horizon, the landscape’s burning red
Bushfire—smoke in your eyes… smoke in your eyes
If you feel something, that makes you warm all over
If you got a fire and you can’t put it out—got a bushfire

Dyin’ Man

Dyin’ Man
Widespread Panic

So long, baby since you’ve been gone
I’m a dyin’ man, I’m a dyin’ man

Don’t ever tell a dyin’ man
You never meant to shoot him down
Yeah, don’t do no good to tell a dyin’ man
You never meant to shoot him down
Now, all my friends and relatives, they’ve been tellin’ me
Don’t come around, don’t come around, don’t come around no more

Supporting the rock ‘n roll lifestyle

We learned last week that Kelly’s cousin’s husband Jim’s (got that?) band Romantica would be playing the Pour House last night, and so they did. Kelly and Scott got to see ’em while I hung out here with the kids.

After the show, both Romantica and the band they’re touring with, Mando Saenz, crashed here. Six sleeping musicians were scattered around the house when we started our day! Everyone was really cool, though. Its a shame they couldn’t stay longer.

They gave us a few CDs that I’ll listen to today. And next time they play here I’ll be the one who goes to the show!

Whoops
Blues Traveler

Have you ever seen an atom
Little bits of everything floating by
Take a good look at them
Collectively they compose all you see
including your eye

Brilliant puzzle
A living Rubix Cube we think we can figure out and solve
But we’re just monkeys
Scratching our heads trying to open our ears
To a chord that just won’t seem to resolve
