Fifteen minutes

With amazingly warm weather Saturday, and after Kelly came back from her run going on about how awesome it was, I opted to get out myself. It was already 4:15 PM and close to sunset. The air was beginning to chill, but I didn’t care. I put on some shorts and hopped on my bike for a quick circuit down the greenway path and back. It took a mere fifteen minutes, but that ride did wonders for my health. I left feeling achy but returned absolutely energized!

I’ve got to make regular exercise a daily thing, especially since I’m working from home now. Plus, I’ve got to take advantage of these 70-degree December days.

Don’t be fronting

Having fun looking at my weather stats right now. A mere two hours ago the relative humidity was 82%, winds were solidly from the south, the temperature was rising on its way to 65 degrees, and the barometer was dropping quickly. Thirty minutes ago the front passed by, as the temperature began to drop from 65, humidity is dropping below 38%, winds have shifted to the north and the barometer has bottomed out. I get a kick out of watching this stuff happen in real-time.

Rain report

Yesterday’s rain report from MT.Net Weather Central (TM): .31 inch.

MT.Net has measured 26.38 inches of rainfall this year. Hard to believe that the annual average is over 44 inches. We’ve got less than six weeks to get 18 inches of rain just to make the average.

Guinness really IS good for you

Oh, I should also say that when I left the client site today my head was absolutely pounding. I was afraid that I might be following in Travis’s footsteps and on the verge of getting sick.

It turns out my headache was from my sinuses, which were having a tough time with the cold, dry air and the drop in pressure from the incoming front. A couple of tasty pints of Guinness later (and a visit with an old friend) and my pain was gone.

We Irish are a clever lot, now aren’t we? 🙂

Thunder!

I’m listening to the glorious sound of thunder this morning. It’s mesmerizing! The forecast calls for widespread rain for the next few days: just what this area needs!

I may bring the laptop out to the porch and enjoy the show.

Rain!

I hopped off a conference call this afternoon and was surprised to see it actually raining! Woohoo! Of course I grabbed my umbrella and went out in it. How could I not?

I did have to hook up my downspout to my water tank again, as its been hanging idle for two weeks. In just a short amount of time the light rain added dozens of gallons of rainwater to my tank. I guess I got about 80 gallons from an hour’s rain. So much that I chose to drain the tank into a garbage can to make sure I saved every drop.

Happy fall

Doc reminds me that Sunday was the autumnal equinox, making it the first official day of fall.

Goodbye, summer. Hello, cooler weather!

Buckets of rain!

After months of no significant rain we finally got a drenching today, and boy is it wonderful! By my estimate we’ve gotten at least 1.5 inches so far with more to come tonight.

Remember that big honking tank I purchased a few weeks ago? When I heard the rain was on the way, I slipped out to Lowes this morning and bought a flexible downspout pipe. I then spent 15 minutes attaching it to just one downspout, thinking I’d attach the other downspouts later.
